Can Dogs Pee on Artificial Grass?

Yes, it’s fine. Artificial Grass is very durable and is not damaged from animal or dog pee. However, real grass is affected, by dog pee and can often turn brown. Also, artificial grass is made so that water, urine and of course any liquid can easily pass through. It does depend on what your installer puts underneath the artificial grass. A common practice is to put a weed-blocking sheet. The kind of sheet we use can absorb and pass liquid. We can also use anti-microbial treated artificial grass so that you can avoid the spread of bacteria and other germs from animal urine.

Is Artificial Grass Safe?

Artificial grass is non-toxic, made from pet-friendly, kid-friendly nylon or plastic materials. I smell Urine on my artificial lawn. What do I do?

You can use typical cleaning methods. One easy thing to do is to put some cleaner on the area, then hose it off. If it is still there you may need to get a brush. Be careful not to use strong cleaners.

What cleaner to avoid on Artificial Grass?

Don’t use harsh chemicals on your artificial grass like bleach, stain removers, alcohol or acidic chemicals or it may effect the life of the grass and it’s nice green looking color. The cheapest and most effective cleaner is a vinegar 1:1 ratio mixture with water. I use this to clean my kitchen and bathroom. The benefit of this is it is cheaper than buying cleaners specific for artificial grass.

How do I deal with hardened animal feces on my artificial grass?

The best thing to do is clean feces from your artificial grass when it happens, or train your dog to poop in an area that you might not care about. But, if you are in the position to clean some hard dog poop or bird poop from you artificial lawn, take a bag and use it like a glove and pick up the feces, invert the bag, tie it up and throw it out. Whatever is left on the grass, wet it with hose, spray some vinegar solution on the area, and use a long handle brush and brush it off. Then use hose to clean it off.

Can you do artificial grass yourself?

Well, this is a difficult question to answer, because it depends on many factors. So, I will say YES and NO. I would vote that you hire professionals because they do this day and day out. Installing artificial grass is not just like installing carpet in a home, it is a lot more difficult because you have to:

Prepare the ground for it. Remove existing grass, make sure the ground can absorb water, make sure it is as level as possible, need to take care of infill, take care of weed guard, cut around other landscape. Then you must make sure the seams are done right and not noticeable.
